The Tea Ceremony with Karim Khourrou

Concept Development + Creative Production for The Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain

2026

A conversation about music, tea, and cultural hybridity.

The program; half listening session, half conversation -brought together Spanish photographer Karim Khourrou, academic Kevin Patton, and cultural curators Jamal Gray and Carmen Dominguez-Estrada.

The evening opened with a tea ceremony, setting the context for a discussion on the relationship between music, ceremony, photography, and the role of migration plays within these relationships.

Listening intervals will featured a collection of music in response to Karim’s work Ya Siniya!

A body of work that was inspired by a song from one of Morocco’s most iconic musical groups: Nass El Ghiwane.
